The various data components (contract, progress estimates, pay items, projects or tasks) which make up the CCMS database have been organized in a hierarchical fashion to support many potential cost management scenarios. Please read this section carefully to understand some of the core concepts involved with generating a Progress Payment.


The highest level is the Contract. Each level under contract has a one-to-many relationship with the level above.  For example, for each contract there can be one or more estimate sets. For each estimate set there can be one or more item sets. For each item set there can be one or more projects.


The following diagram shows how additional data objects relate to these four core levels.



CCMS will generate a progress payment for each Estimate Set within a contract.  


Note: Multiple Estimate Sets would most likely indicate multiple prime contractors, which is not common.


The CCMS database tracks these items using four levels (Contract, Estimate Set, Item Set and Project).  The following diagram outlines how value cost and time are structured and managed within the CCMS database model.
